Applications are now open for nontraditional students who will be juniors at Texas Southern University (TSU) in fall of 2025. Submit your application essay via email to be considered! Further instructions can be found below. We can't wait to hear from you!

The Schineatha Scholarship Fund is dedicated to supporting nontraditional students in their junior year at TSU who are passionate about creating meaningful change. This scholarship provides $1,000 to support your junior year and a mentorship in your senior year to guide you in your career journey.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a nontraditional student (examples: first-generation college student, adult returning to complete a degree, transfer student, individual with a severe disability, veteran, etc.)

• Must be in your junior year at TSU in fall 2025

• Must have a projected plan to graduate in spring 2027

Essay Prompt:
Essay must have a cover page including your first and last name, email, and phone number. In 1,000-2,000 words, please discuss the following:

1. What degree you are pursuing and why it is important to you.

2. How you plan to use your degree to create change in your industry and the broader community.

3. How receiving this scholarship and mentorship would support your personal and professional growth.
